Investment casting uses a type of ceramic/sand as the mold material. Patterns are made out of wax or a low temp plastic. They are dipped in a ceramic slurry and allowed to dry. This process is repeated to get a thick ceramic coating to create the mold. The mold is then baked to cure the ceramic and melt out all of the wax, leaving behind a mold.
Molten metal is poured into the mold. We can pour volumes ranging from one to thousands at a maximum size of 150 pounds. Investment castings boast good surface finish, thin walls, and high dimensional accuracy. Investment casting is used for intricate/complex parts. Metals available are:
- Aluminum
- Zinc
- Stainless Steel
- High alloy
